Chaska
In mid July, Chaska, a beautiful yet very pregnant beagle came into rescue. She was extremely malnourished, thin, and weak from living as a stray. She had never known a loving home before.
Fortunately for Chaska, she was taken into a loving foster home where she was given the best of care and delivered 8 healthy puppies at the beginning of September. Here are two of her pups...
It looked like a happy ending for Chaska, a dog who had spent her whole life before now as a stray on the streets of Ohio. Sadly, Chaska suddenly developed an extreme drop in blood calcium from being so malnourished before coming into rescue and then caring for 8 puppies. She spent 48 hours at the emergency vet in hopes a recovery would be possible. Thanks to the quick work of her foster mom to get her to the vets and the amazing care she recieved, she pulled through.
While the cost of saving this amazing dog is well worth it, it does put us in a tough spot. We are left with a $1600 vet bill on top of the other vet bills we incur from week to week and we are asking people for help. If you can find it in your heart to help us in saving this terrific dog we would appreciate it very much. Trust us, she's well worth it.
Chaska is the perfect blend of beagle silliness and the sense to have manners. She is a great momma, the kids' best friend, and an easy dog to love. She loves people, food, and napping in that order! We love her very much and are so thrilled she made it through her ordeal.
